Shiatsu
Gentle touch for body, soul and spirit
What happens during a session?
An introductory shiatsu session starts with a first conversation so we can get to know each other and have ample time to chat about your wishes for the treatment and any health concerns you may have.
The treatment then usually involves you lying down, fully clothed, on a comfortable therapy table or futon. I will apply rhythmic pressure with my palms, fingers, and thumbs to specific points on various areas of the body, encouraging your body’s own self-regulation. Gentle stretches, joint rotations, and full-body movements range from slow and deep to energetic and vitalising.
What I really appreciate about Shiatsu is the opportunity to lie down without the need to do anything. This state of rest has become so rare. It provides a necessary space for the body to mend itself.
The session ends with some time for you to integrate the experience and share any feedback with me if you wish.

A word of clarity: Shiatsu is not a substitute for medical treatment.
I am not a physiotherapist, doctor or osteopath. I am part of the wider health care team and my clients more often than not consult with other medical professionals as well. The reasons people seek out a Shiatsu treatment are as individual as the people themselves. I have worked with people who just experienced the death of a loved one, who had chronic pain from an injury or who want to prepare themselves for an operation. Making time for a Shiatsu session can help you feel more grounded and centred.
If you are one of the people who ‘feel it all’ and are often flooded by other people’s moods, textures or sounds, you might benefit a lot from Shiatsu. “My mind can’t switch off” is a common phrase I hear. A treatment can feel as if your nervous system has a chance to finally exhale.
In the end Shiatsu is about being at home with oneself. Or as one of my clients beautifully put it: “The different bits in my body are talking to each other again”.
My practice environment is minimalistic and calm. You know you are in the right place when you smell lavender in the air.
